Aintree National Meeting Day 2
A trickier day than yesterday with differing top-rateds for the time ratings and Timeking ratings in a number of races. Also with horses trying new trips and or racing on quicker ground than their best performances so far this season. A deal of caution is urged.
Ratings for Aintree today have been done in order of best time figures this season. As they are doing better than the ratings recently. It is intended, however, that the National ratings will be put up in Timeking rating order rather than this season time rating order.
Aintree Comments
- 2:00 Have been waiting for Faasel to run over this sort of distance for a while now. Though this is a large step up. Turko may be better at a shorter trip. Ungaro was never competitive in The Sun Alliance. It is better than that. This flaater track will probably suit. Aces Four is improving and has no question marks.
- 2:35Witchita Lineman has improved from race to race. The manner of its victory at Cheltenham suggests that staying is its forte. Silverburn should be happy over this trip. Massini's Maguire showed improved form in winning at The Festival. It was probably furtunate to beat yesterday's winner Tidal Bay though. These three appear to have the race between them.
- 3:10 As is often the case as most tricky race. Well Chief needs to bounce back from an early fall at Cheltenham. The step up in trip is unknown territory. Monet's Garden ran disappointingly at The Festival. Though reportedly was found to be suffering from a problem then. Taranis is fairly consistent with few question marks.
- 3:45 The race looks wide open with so many leading contenders having questions to answer. Iron Man would probably prefer slower ground. Its jumping is not reliable either. Irish Raptor would probably want slower ground as well. And may not like these fences. Ground Ball is unlikely to stay. Le Volfoni has scope for improvement. Both Brooklyn Breeze and Kasthari would have a chance on their best form. Hakim loves these fences. Dunbrody Millar well out of the handicap. Has run well over the course and also did show signs of a revival of form last time.
- 4:20 Osana was given a hard race last time. The ground could have been slower. De Soto may have preferred a bit more ease. Ouninpohja may well have been intimidated by the crowd at Cheltenham. It was unfortunate that it finished up the stand rail. Tyson is more than capable of stepping up on its jumps form so far.
- 4:55 Limerick Boy did not appear to stay on testing ground at Kempton. Should find this easier, though the straight is long enough. Undeniable appreciated the quicker ground last time at Wetherby. Pole Star is not without ability on its day. Lankawi is much improved over fences, though there has to be a question mark on the grounds of stamina.
- 5:30 A good quality field here. Despite limited experience, One Gulp ran with credit in the Cheltenham Bumper. Helen's Vision was most impressive when making all to win at Newbury. Princess Flame most probably found the ground too slow at Sandown last time. Also raced on the outside of the field then. On a day when racing on the inside rail proved a great advantage.
( The horses are sorted in best speed figures (Time) since September 2006 rating order then by TKrtg)

2004/05 have been updated to season end. 2005/06 are now up. Have still got write ups to do on both the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals. Have had so many other things to recently have not found the time yet.
Links
Am not going to be dealing with any requests for links in the forseeable future. Well that was the message but still have received plenty of requests.
They will be looked at within the next few weeks.
Betdaq
Imagine a world where there is only one pub group, where the price of a pint is the same everywhere and could be cheaper. Or only one supermarket chain with only one brand of coffee at a higher price. Would be frightening to me.
You want to back a horse early in the 2.00. Do you ring up the same bookmaker or do you look around to see who is offering the best price? Why then in the world of betting exchanges do you always use the same outlet?
Is it not time that you used another exchange as well and created some competition in the market place? Help to make Betdaq stronger and boost liquidity by putting the odd bet on there regularly. It may not seem like it in the short term but a stronger Betdaq will mean a better market place for all. Now is a good time to start with the Jumps Season proper about to begin. Click
